Welcome to Owl's Nest PBwiki 2.0!

Visitor Number

This wiki is designed to inspire teachers to not look back for the one room school, but to look forward to a learning environment with an infinite number of rooms .  This is where we work collaboratively to expand our understanding of the teaching practices that will establish our students in their century, the 21st Century.

A Wiki is a great way to have structured learning space for students, and a awesome communication tool to use with parents.  The enhanced security available with the premium service provided by PBWiki allows you to make private spaces for yourself and for groups of children to work collaboratively with each other.  PBWiki recently has added a feature where students without email addresses can access a wiki; it can't get much easier than that.

This summer I participated in the PBWiki Summer Camp where we learned how to set up, structure, embed multimedia, manage participation, and how to use the security features.  Through that participation, I earned a premium service wiki for a year.  But, PBWiki has also created a Back to School Challenge where

you can also obtain for free, a Gold level, premium service wiki where you can have access to the same security features I am able to use to create work spaces.

To obtain your free wiki all you have to do is to follow this link: www.backtoschoolchallenge.com/

and fill in the information.  Give it a try; I think you will like it.  In the meantime you can take a look at my wiki which is mostly designed for professional development.

 Wiki Etiquette

A wiki is a collaborative work tool.  Just as we practice good manners when working in face to face environments, each particpating member is expected to think before they write and to use professional courtesy.  Please follow this link to see the usual guidelines for using Web 2.0 interfaces for meaningful exchanges of ideas: educators.pbwiki.com/Wiki+Etiquette+for+Students
